Good Food, Good Value
…and Nothing Less at Manny’s Chophouse
BY MARIALICE QUINN
If you want to find a good restaurant, ask your friends and neighbors. If they aren’t handy, Google Manny’s Chophouse and here’s what you’ll hear: We love the food and plenty of it! … Good value for your dollar … AWESOME … The salads are fantastic, chops and ribs excellent … this place never disappoints … best steak I’ve ever had … Best of service … amazing hamburgers.
The quality of the meat is outstanding and the steaks are cooked to perfection. But Manny’s great food doesn’t stop there. Even Polk’s meat-and-potato lovers will enjoy the Endless Salad Bowl brimming with Manny’s Special Salad, tossed tableside with Manny’s Garlic Ranch Dressing and served with sweet yeast bread and cinnamon butter.
Appetizers run from $ 4.99 up to $ 9.29 for a generous portion of Manny’s Buffalo Shrimp. Salads and soups ($3.49 to $8.29) are so hearty they can be a side or a meal.
Chicken is only fresh, never frozen, and the seafood is the freshest possible selections. Prices range from $11.99 for chicken tenders to $18.99 for a Hungry Fisherman’s Platter (filet of cod shrimp, scallops, salmon cake, shrimp and crabmeat au gratin). Many choices are within that range.
Steaks are Midwest raised, grain fed, USDA Choice or higher, hand cut daily, generously seasoned and char-grilled to perfection. Prices range from $11.99 for Country Fried Steak to $18.99 for a 9-ounce Filet Mignon or the 14-ounce New York Strip or $22.49 for a 24-ounce Porterhouse. And they are cooked to perfection. That’s a promise from Manny.
Slow-Roasted Prime Rib, Baby Back Ribs, Boneless Pork Chops, combination platters of ribs and chicken, steak and chicken, steak and shrimp or steak and grouper, Bacon Wrapped Shrimp, Southwestern Chicken Grill and salmon – grilled, Teriyaki or encrusted. The salad bowl isn’t the only thing that’s endless. You will want to keep coming back to try something new, and the good news is you can afford it.
Every Wednesday is Fajita BOGO Night. For just $10.99 you and your companion can both enjoy a great meal. And with Happy Hour throughout the restaurant from 4 to 7 p.m., you can both enjoy a glass of wine, beer or cocktail (no, you do not have to drink both yourself).
Thursday’s special is a 10-ounce Top Sirloin for $12.99. Monday and Tuesdays, kids eat free from the Kid’s Menu (10 and under, limit two kids per adult entree).
Monday through Thursday, arrive between 4 and 6 p.m. and you can order off the Early Bird Menu and enjoy the same quality and service for $7.79 to $10.99 – and that includes everything.
Manny Nikolaidis, creator of the Manny’s Original Chophouse concept, and his wife, Angie, and son, Nikko, opened Manny’s Original Chophouse in 2004 in Haines City. That location is now managed by son, Nikko. A Lake Wales franchise is operated by cousin Emmanuel Nikolaidis, and Manny partnered with Michael Frangos to open the latest Chophouse in Winter Haven. Manny has no connection with any other restaurants or lakefront establishments.
Although it gets very busy and very crowded in the doorway, it’s well worth the wait. The staff are professional and friendly. Call before you leave home to add your name to the wait list. When your name reaches the top of the list, you are on your way to “Good Food, Good Value … And Nothing Less.”
Manny promises you the best steak in town, cooked just right and served up in a fun, friendly and courteous atmosphere; and he delivers on that promise. “I want people to come back,” says Manny. “It’s a pleasure to me to see our customers enjoying their meals.”
