Great Communities start with Great Neighborhoods

The best thing about living in a master planned community is the way so many different people can come together in one neighborhood. BridgeWater in Lakeland is just that kind of place where great homes and recreational amenities combine to attract families of all ages.

“Our residents range from young families to active adults and retirees,” said Tracy Brown, local BridgeWater representative for community developer LandMar Group. “We even have extended families that moved here to have their relatives as neighbors with grandparents in one neighborhood and their children and grandchildren in another.”

Kent and Lyndsy Kulcher are one such family. The Michigan natives have been BridgeWater residents since 2011 along with their daughter Kendall.

“We really love the community and have enjoyed meeting many of our neighbors,” said Lyndsy, a teacher at Dixieland Elementary School. “And now it’s even better with Kent’s parents living right here in BridgeWater.”

Kent said his parents recently moved into BridgeWater. “We all love Lakeland and being so close together is especially great for our daughter.”

According to Brown, most visitors to the welcome center are initially attracted by the great val
ue offered with the new homes and beautiful lakes and amenities. “But I see most of our residents soon discover making new friends and neighbors is one of the best things about living here,” said Brown “As they start to use The Lake Club or walk the neighborhood, it’s the traditional ‘social media’ of meeting neighbors that makes them feel at home.”

BridgeWater residents Donald and Linda Bires are retirees who have found it easy to make new friends with their neighbors. The couple spent two years traveling around Florida in their RV researching places for a permanent home. According to Linda, they both liked BridgeWater for its Lakeland location, beautiful grounds and amenities, and active adult lifestyle without being a 55-plus community.

“We wanted to be in a place where we could meet people our own age and also families and younger people,” said Linda. “We really get the best of both worlds living here.” Linda said they regularly meet new neighbors just taking walks through the community. “I believe to have a good neighborhood you just have to be a good neighbor, and that is certainly how it works for us here at BridgeWater.”

LandMar Group has programmed lifestyle activities at BridgeWater that help bring residents together at the Lake Club Amenity Center. There are resident clubs and groups that also plan events and gatherings in the community. The developer recently conducted an online resident survey to find out what activities were most important. According to Brown, the majority of respondents voiced a common theme of enjoying community events and gatherings at The Lake Club. Meeting neighbors was ranked as highly important by a majority of respondents.

All families who participated in the survey were eligible to win an iPad and the Kulcher family was the lucky winner. “I use it regularly to keep up with our resident-only website and Facebook page,” said Lyndsy.

BridgeWater features homes from the mid $100s by William Ryan Homes. A variety of plans are offered and the builder also has some homes available for immediate delivery.
